This project needs 2 Greenhouse Effect Activity Models to assist students in analyzing how different substances can enhance the greenhouse effect.

Hello! I am a ninth grade physical science teacher at Horry County Early College High School. A large portion of our population will be first generation college students. Not only will they be ready for college, some of the students will be taking college courses their sophomore year. Many of these students come from low income situations as evidenced by 60% of our students being on free or reduced lunch.
While we are trying to get the students ready for college we must face the fact that they must develop higher level thinking skills faster than students in a regular high school setting. The faculty is always looking for teaching strategies and materials that will assist the students in developing skills required to do well in college classes.
My school has as one of its core goals to develop students who are socially active. With this in mind the faculty are always looking for ways to develop service learning projects that assists the students in seeing how they can help their community and other areas.
To this end, I am looking to purchase two Greenhouse Effect Activity Model kits. These kits will allow the students to develop a deeper understanding of the greenhouse effect. The kit has a small "room" in which the temperature is measured and different "plates" that can be changed so the students can see how different greenhouse gases effect the temperature differently.
Students will develop inquiry lab activities and projects that will move them to a deeper understanding of just what the problem of global warming is. The students will be then do research in the different causes of global warming with the ultimate goal of developing personal service learning projects that will educate the local residents about actions they can take in order to alleviate the problem.
Through this activity, you will help to develop students who are not just passively interested in science, but actively involved in scientific discussions that will have a long term impact on the society at large.
