My Students
Global learning, this is our goal! How do we accomplish this? How do we knock down those classroom walls? Well, through projects like "Global Read Aloud". Over 150 teachers will share one book, "Tuck Everlasting", and our classes will participate in a global book club!
My students are a diverse group of students of varying levels.
They attend a public school in Delaware. My students are eager to learn, but, because they are 21st century learners, I have to find interesting ways to engage them. Thus, our participation in the "Global Read Aloud" project. My students will flourish academically with a good book, wonderful technology, and students all over the world to share their thoughts with.
My Project
Individual copies of "Tuck Everlasting" will allow each student to have their own book that they can use at home and in school. As we read, we will partner with a number of classes all over the country and participate in activities and projects that are based on the book. The great part is that my students will have a chance to share and collaborate with students outside of their four walls while enjoying a great story! My students will share using Skpe, email, blogs, websites, the list is endless! They will learn to appreciate another cultures' viewpoint and they will have a chance to not only publish their projects, but to have others read them.
Your donations will, first of all, allow my class to not only participate in the "Global Read Aloud" project, but to have a book of their own.
Having ownership of something always makes it special, even something as simple as a book. The impact this project will have is to promote a love of reading! It will also give my students the chance to learn from, and collaborate with, students all over the world. They will grow to understand, that although we are different, we are still the same.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
