My Students
It's that time again! Time for Global Read Aloud 2013! A time when students all over the world read one book, "Out of My Mind" and then make global connections to discuss the book! When the book is complete, the students will use the posterboard to create projects to share with a global audience.
My students are wonderful!
They are a diverse group of students in terms of race, income, gender, and ability levels. I have students who work at high levels and love to be challenged, down to students who need that extra push. We are an elementary school that is working hard to get our students reading by any means necessary!
My Project
Individual copies of "Out of My Mind" will give each student the opportunity to have their own book to read at home or in school. As we read, we will partner with a number of classes all over the country and participate in activities, projects, and discussions, based on the book. It's easier to enjoy a great story when you can follow along. While I read, "Out of My Mind" during the Global Read Aloud project, my students will read along with me.
My students will have a chance to share and collaborate with students outside of our classroom, while enjoying a great story! We will share our viewpoints, discussions, and projects via Skype, Edmodo, email, blogs, websites, etc..! Having their own copy of the book will make it easier to participate. They will learn to read fluently, express their ideas in verbal and written form, use context clues,understand the author's viewpoints, and most of all, enjoy a well-written story!
Your donations will allow my class to participate in the Global Read Aloud Project 2013 with a book of their own.
My struggling readers will be able to follow along as I read. My higher level readers will be able to move along in the story on their own.
The broad impact of this project will be to promote a love of reading! The students will be able to create projects that they will share with a global audience. My ultimate goal, to have my students read all year!
