Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love my class; whether I am clear-eyed or bleary-eyed, energetic, or exhausted - I am always happy to see my students. They mean the world to me and deserve so much more than I can give them on my own. Thank you so much for considering making a donation to my project.
My Kindergarteners are full of curiosity, joy, and boundless energy.
Ours is an inner-city school, classified as Title I, and more than half of our students are classified as English Learners. But they are more than just their language designation or their income levels, they are students with high potential, and an earnest desire to learn about the world around them. With your generous help, we can all ensure that these students have access to the tools they need to grow their minds and abilities in a learning environment that celebrates their language and culture.
My Project
Younger learners are charmingly (and developmentally) egocentric, and just as charmingly enchanted to discover the world's diversity and breadth.
The materials included in the project will help give my Kindergarteners a deeper understanding of our planet as a global community.
These products are designed to spark the imagination and thinking of young learners through play and touch.
Manipulatives - concrete materials provided to children to bolster understanding of abstract concepts - are widely accepted as essential to the study of Science and Mathematics. They are, I believe, also essential to the study of History.
I want to give my students the opportunity to notice and wonder, and eventually, understand and appreciate. The globe will help students understand land masses and bodies of water, the location of the Polar Bears in the Arctic, and what the Southern Hemisphere is. They will use the community figurines to engage in conversations with partners about the roles they play in the communities they serve. We will all use the children of the world figurines to discuss the relative locations of the different nations and cultures represented, while also thinking about the activities and traditions that we all share.
