I need leveled, guided reading books. I have 28 third grade students in my class this year. Many of my students are reading below grade level. My school's primary reading program is built around a basal reader. The basal reader does not meet the needs of my students who are reading below a third grade level. Some of my lower readers will attempt to read the stories in the basal, only to become frustrated and lose interest in reading. In order for children to become successful readers, they must have access to books at their instructional level. Having leveled readers would allow me to help develop my lower student's reading skills, self-esteem and love of reading.
