Glaze Your Way Through Clay!

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing I have ever met. They enjoy coming to school and achieving their goals despite struggles at home. A large chunk of my students are in an art class for the first time since elementary school, so they are finding a creative side they did not know existed. The majority of the students come from low-economical households, and parents do not have the financial means to provide essentials for their child.

My Project

My students have not had art since their elementary school days, with that they never have had the opportunity to create a ceramic pieces. We have the kiln for the clay all we need is the supplies to make it happen as the supply we have is very limited. My students will create projects in clay learning the process of working with it and all of the stages that clay goes through before they can have a finished project. Having the beautiful glazes to make the projects complete will be the icing on the cake for them. The students will create a box with a lid and clay mugs! Having the opportunity to work and build projects by hand will allow the students to be able to express their creative freedom. Working with clay is also proven to be a stress reliever, so having the opportunity to do so on the middle of a school day will allow the students to to refresh and recharge for their core academic courses. Lets get building!
