Help me give my students high-quality clay projects with glaze paint. Instead of using watercolor or tempera paint that is really intended for paper projects, my students would love to have the beauty of glazed clay projects!

My Students
Imagine a room filled with the colors of the rainbow, smells of a freshly painted picture, and the sounds of laughter and excitement while students immerse their hands in a bowl of wet and slimy paper mache paste. Each week, I have the privilege of teaching over 550 kindergarten through fifth-grade students all about the sights, smells, sounds, and textures of the visual arts.
My primary goal as an elementary art teacher is to build confidence in each and every one of my students while creating a love and appreciation of the arts.
In the 18 years that I have been teaching art, I have been fortunate to have students who inspire me to be the best art teacher I can be. Not only do my students learn how to be creative and innovative through the arts, but they also develop life skills such as perseverance, empathy, and problem-solving. I strive to improve myself as an educator so that I am able to offer my students a meaningful art education experience that will impact them for the rest of their lives.
My Project
What child doesn't love working with clay? My students eagerly look forward to building with clay, especially adding color to their final project. While supplies like watercolor and tempera paint are colorful on clay, these art supplies are better used on our paper projects. Plus, I know my students would appreciate being able to use an art supply that professional artists use to make their projects shine.
Often times these clay projects end up being given as a special present to a loved one or put on display in their home as a treasure of their hard work.
Not only have they had the opportunity to learn the skills and techniques of working with a three-dimensional art supply, but my students are also able to give of themselves as an act of kindness and generosity by giving their project to someone else.
My students will be learning about art creation, recognize the basic techniques for the presentation of art, respond by looking and talking about art using academic art vocabulary, and connect their everyday life experiences to their own art. These are all key components of the National Core Art Standards.
