My students need art materials to enhance their learning experience: loom and weaving kits, clay, sand, paper mache, mosaic art, art paper, masks, etc.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you ever think about who your most memorable teacher was, and most importantly...why?! Mine was my 5th grade teacher because she had the best art supply closet. For me, the creative aspect of school was my favorite part.
My students come from socio-economically disadvantaged homes.
Our school is considered a Title 1 School meaning that a good percentage meet free or reduced-price lunch criteria. Our school has a very diverse population accommodating students from Kindergarten to 6th grade. The majority of my students come to me at least 1 - 2 years below grade level.
My Project
Unfortunately with budget cuts and the pressure of state test scores, art has been put on the back burner. I desperately want to change that for my students. I am asking for a variety of art supplies for my students in order to enhance their learning. These materials will be embedded in various unit lessons for all subjects. I have requested materials to create mosaic art to incorporate with math. Materials for language arts for book reports. Earthly materials to learn about geology. Basket weaving and loom set to use while learning about the Indians. And many other supplies to use as enrichment and incentives. There are many students who find it hard to connect with education when they feel it has nothing to offer them. I need to establish a connection for all types of students. Personally, I think the more fun they are having, the more they will want to learn. And if they want to learn, they most definitely will learn.
Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
Having the materials needed to do art projects enables the students to be creative and use their imaginations.
Art is also a great incentive for the children to want to do well. Please help fund my project so that my students have a better opportunity to bring their imaginations and learning to life.
