Due to major budget cuts across our school district arts funding has taken a major hit.
My students are kindergarten through fifth grade art students.
My schools student population is very diverse. We have many students from Japan, Korea, and China, as well as kids who have lived in our community for their whole lives. We have many students that only get to stay in our city for 2 years before going back to their home country. So my goal is to give every student an art experience that they can carry with them where ever they go.
My Project
We would love a variety of mosaic tiles to make stepping stones for our school/community garden. We wanted to give a gift back to our school and community because last year they gave us a wonderful gift. My students and I had to raise $10,000 to have an amazing visiting artist come to our school. We worked SO hard to raise the money. It took two years; so much time, effort, and money came from our school community. We brainstormed how we could give back and say thank you for such an amazing gift and experience. Our visiting artist changed our lives in a way. We had an artistic experience that can't be repeated and was magical. We can't wait to thank everyone who helped it happen!!!
Thank you for reading about my school and our project.
I am so happy Donors Choose is available for teachers. We are spending so much of our own money to make up for the extensive cutbacks we are currently suffering through. People like you, and programs like this are helping public education in a HUGE way! Thank you!!!
