My students need 10 headphones to listen to a book from beginning to end.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gray's classroom raised $181
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot
Some of our students can't read a book from beginning to end. They feel discouraged, distracted, and defeated.
We are a campus library that serves three unique schools in New York.
Our school library serves Title I schools with over 80% of the student population qualifying for free and reduced price lunch. Our students are inquisitive and eager 6th-12th graders that come from a community that has severe socio-economic challenges.
My Project
In-depth analysis, listening for enjoyment, "re-reading" a favorite part or the entire book, our students can do it all if our project is funded. The requested headphones will help them hear how a book should be read, learn from the masters when and how to read with emphasis and purpose. They will also have the chance to complete a book regardless of their reading disabilities. Books aren't exciting for many of our students, reading is a task that must be completed for school. These headphones will help them realize that reading is an essential part of life.
The project will bring alive and expose our students to characters that can hold their attention and keep them interested in a book from beginning to end.
Funding for this project will also help our students get one step closer to having a 21st century media center.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
