I love to partner with parents and students to love learning and love themselves. Each child's life is so valuable and, in my classroom, I make sure all my students know it. I teach at a Title One School in Chesapeake, VA. We serve over 900 students in grades Pre-K-2. Since I teach Kindergarten, I am their first venture to school expectations and learning. I guide them on a journey of self-discovery- what they think about, how they respond to others, and what they can do.
I love watching them grow in confidence when they realize they can be far greater than what they thought possible.
My Project
Within the last three years, I have seen a growing need to provide *actual* space for my learners to grow. Now and days, coming to school is a whole new world for children. Being told what to do, being on a schedule, and, constantly, being around others- can be quite overwhelming.
I find that young learners need space to grow and learn in the midst of the unfamiliar.
So, I want to provide differentiated carpeted seating options all around the classroom to meet the individual spacial needs. I intentionally picked carpets for my flexible seating options because (1) it's a space they are familiar with, (2) it gives children room to grow in learning how to share a space and (3) it's comfortable/adaptable for all center work and collaborative play. Thanks in advance for supporting our learning!
