This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher of 25 first-grade leaders. These little minds are excited to learn new things and are excited to be back in the classroom. They know that a school is a place they can feel safe and accepted for who they are even though we are learning from a distance. Each child learns that they are loved, have so much potential, and can do amazing things if they work hard and have the right materials.
We are learning to lead through example and being responsible for ourselves and our choices.
We work together to solve problems and learn through cooperative learning and hands-on practice. These students have inquisitive minds and a thirst to learn new things every day.
My Project
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are deep and thorough, allowing my students to dive into subjects such as biomimicry, light and sound traveling in waves, and patterns seen in space. These books will help bring these concepts into the classroom in language young children can understand.
Through these books, students will see examples of how bird wings have given rise to airplane wings and how light and sound travel in waves.
In addition to these books, clipboards will allow us to explore the world outside the classroom while recording our observations of biomimicry in nature, light, shadows, and the sounds all around us.
