My Students
My students come from a low socioeconomic area and face adult like challenges on a daily basis. They come from all walks of life. They are performing on both ends of the learning spectrum in regards to school readiness. Many of my students have little to no parental involvement at home or outside of my classroom.
My students are little sponges that are full of life.
Every morning when they enter inside my classroom, they strive to learn and explore!
My Project
Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future. As I begin to rebuild their learning centers and update some tablets, I also need new headphones to accompany these devices. A lot of my students don't come to class with the necessary supplies to complete their online assignments. Some sit on the computer with broken headphones as if they're working and are afraid to tell me they can't hear any sounds coming out anymore. Kindergarteners are adjusting to routines and technology and we use adaptive programs everyday in reading and math in our district. Overtime, they pull, bite, or walk on the metal ends of their headphones and break several pair throughout the year.
Your donation of headphones could not only replace a lot of broken headphones but supply some children with their very first pair of their OWN personal headphones.
Out with the days of sharing community headphones that the teacher brought that might be "pink and I don't want the pink ones". This would solve so many arguments in my room.
