My Students

As a first year elementary art teacher, I seek to inspire and engage my 800+ students! Through the power of visual arts, students learn to be open-minded, empathetic, and critical thinkers. They follow their heart and learn to take risks. I am able to develop relationships with my students, treat them with respect, and show them that I truly care about their well-being. Often these doors are left closed in the classroom, but in the art room we are able to change that.

Art education allows for deeper connections, giving students the ability to trust that their ideas, thoughts, and questions are all valid.

I aim to give my students the tools to open up their minds to the world around them, and grow into optimistic and creative individuals!

My Project

There is nothing that compares to holding a ceramic artwork, sculpted by your own hand, that is smooth and glowing after its final firing. As a child, clay was a favorite medium of mine. The anticipation of the firing, especially after glazing, was a feeling I will never forget.

The joy of ceramic work is something I want all of my students to feel, and with these glazes, we can make that happen.

Clay is a medium that all students should experience. Brought from nature, sculpted by hands, and pushed through the stages of raw to fired, clay is an all inclusive medium that has the power to build confidence, create curiosity, and influence a connection to the natural world.
