This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My English language learners need to be exposed to a variety of texts that are appropriate for their reading levels and interests. Many of my students have just moved to the United States and begin the year on a Kindergarten reading level.

Our class is composed of students from Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, and Vietnam.

Students have had little exposure to English in their native countries and are eager to learn the language. Although they may catch on to speaking English quickly, it is much harder to learn how to read and write in their new language.

My Project

If my students have access to the e-reader books, they will be able to improve their reading levels throughout the year and move closer to reading at the same level as their peers. Students will gain confidence in their new language and develop an appreciation for reading. This will help them succeed in all subject areas. With a solid foundation in English literacy, my students will be more likely to succeed in the future.

I'm looking forward to introducing these e-reader books into my classroom.

I can't wait to see my students' reading levels increase throughout the school year. I know my students will be so proud of themselves!
