Giving Bullies A Fresh Start

My students need the book "Bullying in Schools" and iPods to use as e-readers to learn more about bullying.

My Students

Bullying is a serious problem that can not be ignored. It is not only necessary to educate children on how to identify and deal with a bully but we must teach them social skills that will prevent bullying. Teamwork and cooperation are among the most important ways to create a culture of respect.

The students at my school come from a low income area where most students are on free or reduced lunch.

However, they don't let their obstacles deter them from coming to school in bright spirits ready to learn. Unfortunately, the issue of bullying is evident on our campus. We want to send our students the message that our school is a safe environment by having zero tolerance when it comes to bullies.

My Project

I am requesting the Townsend Press book "Bullying in Schools" to help talk to students about bullying and what we can do to prevent this problem in our school. The iPods will be used as e-readers to gain access to more anti bullying literature. A large part of combating bullying is teaching students the necessary social skills to work together in a cooperative way. The requested iPods will also allow students to practice these skills by having students use the devices with a partner. By working and learning together students will build bonds that will create a classroom culture that will not tolerate any kind of bullying. It is so important for students to learn these skills in order to function in society.

By working together we can eliminate the problem of bullying.

Students need to learn and practice social skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom. The materials I have requested will give my students the confidence and skills to successfully interact with others while putting them on the road to success. Your support is greatly appreciated.
