Our school has a changemaker project to encourage our young learners to make the world a better place. We have a lot of animal lovers in first grade and have selected a project to make tie blankets for dogs and cats in a shelter. Students will measure, cut and tie the blankets together.
This project also promote literacy when they write letters to the shelter.
Each student in 1st grade will be able to make their own blanket by selecting different colors and patterns. Many of our students are also working on fine motor skills such as tying their shoes, so this will be great practice!
