Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"We're the Bears, the B Bears, from BES don't you know!" This is the first part of our school song that you hear our students proudly singing at our school assemblies. My students are excited about learning and love coming to school!

Our goal is to prepare and provide our students with STEAM education that promotes the skills, knowledge, and physical health and well-being necessary to dominate in the 21st century, compete in the global economy, and become successful, healthy citizens in their communities.

As a Title I school district, we have many challenges that come with our student population; however, we rise up to this adversity and seek out resources that will help our children succeed.

My Project

My students have been blessed this year with many wonderful supplies from our Donors Choose projects that have been funded. Now I would like for them to experience the important life lesson of giving back.

"Sprinkling kindness like confetti" is a phrase that I hope to instill in my students so they can take this with them as they move on to junior high school and for their entire lives.

What better way to give back than to find a classroom in need of school supplies. Another teacher at our campus knew of just the right classroom in Arkansas that my students could help out with these basic school supplies of pencils, crayons, erasers, scissors, and glue sticks. This school is in a lower income community, so parents do not have the means to send their children to school with the basic necessities. I know that my students are going to be all smiles when we pack all of these supplies up in a box to ship off to them. We will also be sending each student in the class a book from Scholastic with a book label for the teacher to place inside of each book that reads, "Giving back feels great! From: BES 5th graders." Along with the supplies and books, my students will write letters of encouragement and motivation to the students in this class. We are thrilled to be able to not only touch these students' lives by donating these supplies, but we are also excited to write these letters from our hearts to them with hopes that we can make a difference! This simple act of kindness will create a ripple effect!
