My Students

We have one off the most diverse schools in Washington state. We are a title one school which means we have 70% free and reduced lunch. We have a high percentage of families with unstable housing situations. Since the pandemic the kids have been isolated from their peers and on their computers for hours at a time. There is an Ultimate Frisbee league here in Seattle where we play kids from other schools every Saturday at different fields around the city. It is another structured activity for kids who experience instability.

Often it is one of the first exposures to meeting and playing against other students in a competitve and friendly way.

It is a great way to learn social and emotional skills while getting to be part of a team. Not to mention they have a chance to exercise and meet other kids their age from all across the city.

My Project

The jerseys will be used for the All-Star Ultimate Frisbee Team. We will be able to reuse them for years to come. The frisbees will be used for practice and games. It is often their first experience as a team sport and an extracurricular activity. We offer this to every single student between 3rd through 5th grades.

The team includes all students, including, special education, high poverty, all nationalities and all genders and will allow students to experience comradery/ team spirit.
