Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th graders are full of energy, and most of all eager to learn. Our school is an inner city school with 97% of the population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. These kids come to school excited and ready to give it their all.

Many are English learners working hard to reach their English goals to reclassify and be proficient in English with little support at home.

My students enjoy spending time at school many times because school is the one places they feel safe and taken care of. They come ready to tackle any academic challenge they come across. It is a great experience as a teacher to see how they take ownership of their learning throughout the year.

My Project

This handheld microphone will allow us to have more drama time in the classroom. Drama activities are fun making learning both enjoyable and memorable. The microphone will give those soft spoken students a chance to find their voice and grow in confidence.

Drama is an effective learning tool because it involves the student intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally.

It stimulates the imagination and creativity; it develops a better understanding of human behavior. With the microphone my students can put on plays or make presentations for all to hear. It would be a good tool to read their essays out loud. Overall it will be a great tool to use in various settings.
