My students need a variety of Hot Dots sets and batteries to help develop their early literacy skills.

My Students

Have you heard of Hot Dots? They are cool pens that help students practice their skills. Students take a card with a question, figure out the correct answer, and then check their answer with their Hot Dots pen! They are a fun and motivating way to learn.

I work with a great group of 25 English language learners in grades K-5.

My students speak Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Hmong, and English. They are working hard to master the skills they need to be successful in life. I love coming to school each day to work with such hard-working students who are so excited to learn. They attend a large school of about 1000 students. We have a great school that has recently been designated by our state as a reward school for our students' high achievement and our work at closing the achievement gap. You can help us continue to improve!

My Project

Many of my young students come to school unprepared for the rigor they will face. Kindergarten today is what first grade used to be. If students start kindergarten without knowing their letters, numbers, colors, and shapes, they are behind. These Hot Dots pens and cards will allow my students to practice these basic skills so they can catch up to their peers. The batteries will allow us to keep the Hot Dots pens running. I will also use these materials with my older students who are recent arrivals to the United States. They need to learn basic English skills, and these Hot Dots sets will be a fun and motivating way for them to do that. They will be able to use these sets on their own in their regular classrooms during independent work time, and I will also allow them to check out a pen and card set to practice at home.
