My students need two Chromebooks to use during brain breaks in between content instruction, to keep them focused and contribute towards the goal of their 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Despite the low income area our school is located at, my 4th and 5th grade gifted students are eager learners. They are high achievers, with very limited resources. If given the appropriate tools, they would benefit from project-based learning, group activities, and technology!
My students love to learn and love to grow!
THEY ARE INQUISITIVE, CREATIVE, TALKATIVE, INNOVATIVE, AND HUNGRY FOR KNOWLEDGE!
All they need is some additional technology to help bring them up to the standards that the county's standards are holding them to,
My Project
My students are in the gifted program and shift from subject to subject all day long, sometimes not stopping to even stretch. It can be mentally exhausting! They came up with the idea of using Go Noodle (a website that promotes movement like dance and exercise) for their "brain breaks". When trying to solve their own problem, they discussed several options to have an area in the room where they can take turns taking brain breaks throughout the day.
They discussed how much they enjoy doing Go Noodle with the PE teacher on rainy days, when they can't go outside.
They decided that they can use Go Noodle for their brain breaks which promotes health and wellness. As a team they came up with this kid inspired project which goes hand in hand with the recommended 60 minutes of daily activity that kids need. I am so proud and excited that my students came up with this idea!
