This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Some of the students in my class need the option to move around throughout the day. Having choices would give them the power to make choices. This could be the year that magic happens and they fall in love with learning!
Our school is a Title I school.
Every student receives free breakfast and lunch. It is the same school that both of my sons attended. Our community is small but filled with love and pride. We may not have all of the resources as some of the school in larger districts, but we have heart. From our students to our faculty and staff, our school is our family.
My Project
As my kindergarten students are learning independence, I am learning to let go and let them take the lead. They are asking constantly if they can use a Hokki stool, move to a chair with a fidget band, use a stability ball or if they can grab a clipboard and sit on the floor. While I am more than happy to give them these freedoms, I am noticing that they aren't very comfortable on the floor. These interlocking stools that I am requesting will help us to increase the seating options that fit our individual preferences!
I want my kindergarten students to adore learning.
Seating plays a huge part. I want them to take ownership of not only their choices in what they learn, but also in where and how they learn. These interlocking stools will make that possible!
