it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical high school practice starts off with stretching, motivation and conditioning followed by tennis fundamentals training. I would like see the team to earn to a winning record this year while becoming great sportsman, community role models, and learning to enjoy the game in the process.
These players are hardworking and many come from low income families.
Many students cannot afford to buy tennis equipment and have not been exposed to tennis. We have a fairly small team budget and cannot purchase things like a ball machine. The school is a great place for them to stay off of the streets and succeed and put their energy into productive and positive outlets.
My Project
The High School boys team is looking to improve this year. A tennis ball machine would be a great tool to help them accomplish their goals and would serve as an additional practice partner. With the ball machine they can participate in practice drills that will help with consistency and endurance. They also can get used to "heavy topspin" shots or slice by varying the settings so they are ready when the season starts.
