My Students
It is unusual, to say the least. I know what you are thinking, this situation is like nothing you've known, but what I mean is the student that I wish to send these resources. Rarely have I met a student so determined, so disciplined and so talented. She has outperformed all her predecessors and continues to show the initiative to learn and grow without guidance.
This student needs a digital piano at home so she can continue to study as she does at school.
In two years she has completed more on two instruments than any other student I have had do on one instrument. It is breathtaking. Occasionally one meets a young student who is already writing songs, and this is that moment. The best thing I can do is ensure she continues by getting her a keyboard to practice at home.
My Project
I want to enable each of my music students to practice and play music at home as they would in school. The most difficult thing is to see a student who is excelling, who has made the highest of goals and stepped out from the crowd without the same opportunities as her peers and then see that get snubbed out. It is hard to live with oneself knowing that a student belongs in a top-performing music school but cannot afford to miss any class time to get there.
In order to remedy this problem, I am requesting a keyboard for one of my most outstanding music students.
With this keyboard, she will be able to practice every day and continue to grow in new and exciting ways. This keyboard will give the chance to prepare and audition at some of the top-performing arts high schools in New York. When a student practices hard and does more than expected of her she deserves to be given the resources they need to grow. It is the most minimal thing we can do.
