My Students

Each day I'm greeted by the sweet smiles of my inquisitive group of 3rd graders. They are eager and ready to learn. They are dreamers, thinkers, jokesters, readers, scientists, inventors, and mathematicians. They are the future!

These creative kids are ready to take on 3rd grade.

Part of our third grade experience is reading both fiction and nonfiction books that tie directly into our curriculum. Please help me provide options for my students to bring our core subjects to life!

My Project

Trickster tales and folktales are an easy way to spark excitement for reading and writing. I plan on using these books to do just that! Students will read various folktales and explore the elements. We will determine the role that each trickster plays in the plot of the story. We will explore folktales from various cultures and how the role of the trickster compares in each culture. Students will use the books as models to then create their own variety of trickster tales. This is one way that I plan on using these books to promote cultural acceptance and the love of reading.
