My Project

As a health & physical education teacher, I teach a wide variety of content. One of the lessons that I teach to our middle school students is about personal hygiene, and why they should use deodorant. This can be challenging since the majority of our scholars are coming from a high-poverty area of West Philadelphia. Teaching this content can be challenging for a number of reasons. However, the biggest challenge is the affordability of self-care items. With record-high inflation, the families we serve are struggling more than ever, and things that are necessities for most of us, become a luxury to others.
