Give Newcomers a Boost with Lexia English!

Help me give my students Lexia English to help them gain extra practice towards English proficiency!

My Project

This year, in ESL, some of my newcomer students are really struggling to gain listening and speaking skills in English. After doing an assessment of their English proficiency in listening and speaking, we discovered our students really need more opportunities to practice speaking and listening in English in the sheltered environment of the ESL room. I would like to provide my newcomer students with the Lexia English program to help boost their English skills. This project will provide newcomer students with Lexia English licenses . Per their website, “Lexia® English Language Development™ is an adaptive blended learning program that supports Emergent Bilingual students’ English language acquisition through academic conversations. The program integrates speaking, listening, and grammar in the subjects of math, science, social studies, general knowledge, and biographies.”

In this project, I would like help students make even more progress in speaking and understanding (listening) in English with this high quality engaging program.

The Lexia English program helps emergent bilinguals through interactive practice and voice recognition.

My students are special because they speak a 2nd language in addition to English and are newcomers to the United States! They work very hard and continue to keep a positive attitude. I'd like to reward my students for their hard work by giving them high quality learning materials that they are excited to work with.

My students love surprises and rewards so I can not wait to see their reaction to this new learning program and the progress they make in English after we have this project funded.
