This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach math, to a group of fabulous bilingual 5th graders. Math is a subject that students love and some don't. However, my goal is to create a love for math and instill in them the idea that math can be fun and useful in life. I am requesting these materials to enhance our daily activities and learning. The dry-erase markers are used mostly to write on their desks and display their thought process when solving mathematical problems. Using this process is very successful, as students who tend to be quiet and withdrawn, tend to participate and display their abilities. The notebooks are used to take notes, practice skills, and use it as a reference. It also helps them look back and help with some skills previously taught.
Having all these materials at hand, allows my students to worry less about what they have or don't and focus on learning to be productive and enjoy math.
With your kind donations, I can make this happen for my students. My bilingual students will feel that they are getting all they need without feeling less of a person because they can't afford it or are unable to get it. I try my best to represent them correctly and provide them with all they need to be successful in the school year as bilingual students.
