My Project

The students I work with have autism. Sitting in classrooms without sensory and movement breaks is especially challenging for them. When my students are not focused or are in overwhelmed states, there can be an increase in their behaviors, and they cannot learn to their potential.

Students need sensory breaks outside of the classroom.

My project is to create sensory break stations throughout the school so that when my students need a break,k they have sensory destinations to walk to. I am planning on creating tactile walls, deep breathing stations, doodling stations, positive affirmation stations, and exercise stations. I believe that by providing my students with sensory and movement breaks, I will see an improvement in behaviors and learning outcomes!
