My Students
I have 20 kindergarten students at a large inner city school district in Ohio. Predominately, the students in my classroom come from a low socio-economic background. This is exemplified in that all my students receive free breakfast and free lunch.
The students are all very excited about learning, especially with hands-on activities.
They love coming to school, and love to hear stories.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of writing materials including: dry erase boards, dry erase markers, erasers, clipboards, markers, and crayons to give my students a variety of opportunities to draw and write. So much of kindergarten is new learning and guided practice, so these materials will be able to be used whole group on the carpet. The students will be able to write along with me as I model how to write a letter or high frequency word. These materials can then transition to managed independent learning where the students can practice what they learned.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
