Give Kids Their Own Copy to Stop Covid-19

Help me give my students diverse books with writers who are most like them! The books The Skin I'm In, Before We Were Free, Monster and 145th Street are all written by diverse author's.

My Students

My students are funny, kind and challenging learners. They come from many diverse backgrounds and cultures. All of my students read far below grade level. Many come from book barren homes. My students come to me with little motivation to read. They have been given less challenging, boring books for years. When able to make connections, my students can create amazing art. They have stories worth sharing. Literature helps them to find their voice as a writer. They are survivors.

My Project

All of these books are books that I currently have in my class library. Many were purchased by myself so that my students could read books by diverse authors. My students are struggling readers who need texts that relate to their own lives. From poverty to living in unthinkable conditions my students need these engaging narratives. Please help me to continue to give my students the books that meet their needs. If given these books, I will be able to give each student their own copy of each book. They will be able to have a clean book that may help them overcome this difficult time in history. Please help us to be better readers and better citizens. We need you!
