This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These items will be beneficial to help children use their hands and fingers to build and create beautiful designs. Through this process this will allow children to improve their fine motor and visual motor skills, which are all important skills to use during OT services. The lacing beads are great to work on fine motor skills. The sticker by number books will allow children to use their vision skills to orient and align stickers into corresponding locations. There are different theme books being requested to cater to children specific interests. The candy construction toy will provide children with opportunities to use their hand and finger muscles to build different designs and architecture. The Lego will promote the development of fine motor and visual motor skills by engineering different designs. Children will have the opportunity to improve their handwriting skills by being inspired to write about their creation.

Many children with various disabilities benefit from a hand-on learning experience to create and design different designs.

The children who I serve come from various different walks of life and deserve the tools needed to be successful. I have limited supplies as this is my first year working as an occupational therapist in the NYC public school in the Bronx. Please consider making a donation to my project.
