My Students
The students at my school are not unlike any other middle school kids in the US: they really like candy, their cell phones and "Ariana Grande". But the majority of our kids can't even pay for lunch, let alone an iPhone. As a Title I school, the needs for the kids are many. But Title I funds aren't provided for any music ensemble. My students work really hard to fundraise for the band program, and we have awesome teachers who always seem to buy whatever we're selling. This money always seems to be used up quickly with day-to-day operation costs, and it's really hard to save up for instruments and equipment that will provide awesome sounds for our ensembles.
There are over 170 students in the band program and we do everything from concert band, pep band, solo and ensembles, and even percussion ensemble!
The program has grown exponentially over the past five years and we're ready to take it to the next level with your help!
My Project
Help us turn our band program "up to 11" with excellent audio equipment!
The band program at our school is ready to move into the realm of popular music with live audio.
We are creating a new ensemble that will feature all of the staples of popular music: singers, rappers, guitars, bass, drum set, synthesizers, and sampling. We need a 4 pack of microphones, a sound kit, a 3-pack of microphones with stands, and a tri-pod stand with a boom mic. The equipment listed will allow us to mic our singers and mic the instruments. The snake will allow us to neatly connect all of these sound components into a mixer so that everything works properly.
This ensemble will be used as an outreach ensemble into our community! We will be performing all around our city in various venues and events to bring our love of music and performing to as many people as possible. Our first concert is slated to be on May 13th at a community center in an impoverished area of town, and we are looking forward to playing awesome hits of the 70's, 80's, and 90's. We need your help to make this ensemble a reality by helping to give us a way to project our awesome sounds!
