This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
First, I absolutely adore my 4th graders. I looped up with them, and I’ve gotten to really know them and their families. My students have major academic needs, and I want to give them the best opportunity to access text and grade-level content. These are children that deserve the very best and they deserve someone who believes in them.
I believe Scholastic News magazines and Just Write!
workbooks are going to help them forget about the difficulties they have with learning and will help get them incredibly excited about reading. These resources will encourage them to read. Reading the magazines together will help develop their reading comprehension skills. They will begin developing their knowledge base as they work on mapping skills with the Map Skills for Today activities. The Just Write! workbooks will be used to develop writing skills as they read and discuss different articles. This will be great for them as they develop a passion for reading while receiving social studies and science lessons. I’ve always believed that “every child is a reader, some just haven’t found their favorite book yet.”
