In 2015 The Mosaic Pre-k Center at 76th street opened its doors. Everything was new and shiny. Eight years later, you could imagine, the shine has worn off and our things are no longer new. Much of these items include library books. Our classroom libraries is a first time experience with books for many of our learners. These experiences have been some what rough over time. Eight years of first time experiences has resulted in ripped pages and covers. Most of these books are being held together by packing tape.
By funding this project you will be gifting our classes new reading material for our theme based units.
Not only would you be funding new material for our Pre-k classes but our special education classes, and our newest and youngest learners, 3k.
Since 95% of our school are English language learners, these books will foster language acquisition and development. The books will also help them with their letter and number recognition and retention skills. Social emotional learning will be done throughout some of these stories. More importantly, these books will hopefully help foster a long and loving relationship with reading.
