My Students

Experiencing high school can evoke every emotion: fear or joy, angst or optimism, and sometimes all of these at once! Our classroom is a great place to begin learning about the outside world and how to be the best person possible in it. Each student is unique, from young athletes and artists to students with individual learning plans and young leaders. We're the fourth most diverse high school in the nation, and it shows in my classes!

My students are immersed in a journey that will culminate in college, leadership, citizenship, and life.

I want to prepare them to be the best readers they can possibly be, the kindest friends they wish they had, and heroes that their families and friends can be proud to know. High school can be difficult, but this is our chance to start on the right path. I want to recognize each student for their hard work during this difficult time.

My Project

My brave Girls Who Code club was organized from home, during a pandemic, by students who have never met. Their goal? Get more BIPOC young women to take AP Computer Science at our school. They meet after school two days a week to prepare freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to succeed in a college-level computer science course.

Usually, Girls Who Code, a non-profit, sends shirts to advertise the club on campus and in the community; the pandemic got in the way.

Our small and mighty club would like hoodies to wear around the neighborhood. It will commemorate the difficult year and encourage others to join in.
