This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a school counselor in training I am working on developing the skills I need to be a successful school counselor. Through one-on-one sessions and small groups, I am applying what I learn in school and getting feedback on my areas of growth in supervision. Something I have learned is that snacks are often an important part of a counseling session or group!

Food fulfills basic needs, helps build community, and is often a crucial part of successful counseling groups.

Although it may seem small, students need food to get their brains going, and some students often miss meals. Additionally, students get excited to come to group when there are snacks, don't we all!

I am asking for this project to be funded so that my small art and social skills group participants get the full experience of being part of a group, and so that they have access to food if they are hungry.
