Girls of the Future

Help me give my students resources to support an SEL (Social & Emotional Learning) dance after school program for young girls. This program will offer light snacks, SEL manipulatives, reflection journals, and dance apparel for the students.

My Project

Covid has impacted the social and emotional function of many students. We are seeing alarming challenges in students self and social awareness, self management, responsible decision making, and relationship building skills. These SEL challenges have dramatically impacted the classroom; whereby teachers, like myself, have been experiencing more and more behavioral, mental, and emotional outbreaks from students. Now, more than ever, our students need SEL education and coping strategies.

This teacher has the answer!

Last fall, I created an afterschool SEL/dance curriculum called "I AM, It's A Movement!" This 10 week curriculum teaches 5th grade girls on the five SEL competencies as outlined by the CASEL foundation. I plan to use every last resource in my cart to effectively run the program this spring.
