Girls Learning to Be Outstanding Women Part 2

My Students

My students learn best with hands-on experiments and a firsthand look at things. They have a great enthusiasm for learning! We are from a Title I school, so many students receive free or reduced-price lunch and come from different backgrounds.

My students come to school with an eagerness to learn.

We are a Title I school. I want to grow my students' curiosity to learn by showing them that learning can be fun. Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus series always said, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" My class does this with hands-on learning and STEAM. My classroom is a fun and inviting place to learn. I have hands-on activities every day.

My goal is to introduce students to science in a fun way and inspire students to want to pursue a career in science. I also have a goal to inspire students to have a love of learning for years to come. I want to also teach my students how to show empathy and to be caring. We want to help our fellow students at our school and in our community who could be experiencing financial difficulties.

My Project

Our school is starting a program for Girls called Girls LEarning to be Outstanding Women. This program is being formed to help these girls learn self Confidence, self eteem, risk taking, public speaking, goal setting, collaboration, teamwork, service, dependability, and independence.

We want to instill in our girls these life skills to help them become successful young women!

These canvas bags will be great for them to decorate and carry their program items in. The notecards and postits will be used for the girls to make notes and compliments to each other to help improve self confidence and self esteem. The nail polish will be for a fun day for the girls and the pens are for writing those great compliments and notes to others. We want to build their self-esteem by making them aware that they do have adult role models that are here for them.
