Girls Just Want to Read Fun Books!

My students need popular girly books for leisure reading.

My Students

Girls just want to have fun! And these girls want to read some of the most girl-y literature available! Also true to true girl nature, they want to share in their reading experience by reading the books together, requiring additional copies of these very popular titles.

I am a librarian in a school where many of my students come from single-parent families whose parent is working more than one job just to provide the necessities of life.

Most of my students live below the poverty line where anything beyond the necessities cannot be purchased. Reading is an avenue for my girls to escape the hardship of their daily lives and begin an adventure beyond their imagination. The only way many of my students have access to books is through the school library, as they also lack transportation to get to the public library.

My Project

The books listed are some of our most popular among our fourth and fifth grade girls. The waiting lists are longer than any other book because our library only had funds to purchase one copy of each title. My girls devour these books and get impatient waiting; understandably so when you have to wait many months! Some fifth graders are about to graduate from our elementary school, still having not gotten to read these books! They need your support!

Your donation will get these books in the hands of my very hard working fourth and fifth grade girls!

They will be able to create mini book clubs in order to share their reading experience with others! You can make a difference in these girls' lives! Please help!
