This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a diverse community in South San Jose. Every day my students practice the five core values on which their education is being built: Respect, Responsibility, Persistence, Empathy, and Advocacy.

They are eager and excited to engage with academic materials, build friendships and develop the skills necessary to make a difference in their community and the world.

They are young advocates.

They are constantly working hard to engage with new texts, learn about new topics, and delve into any book they can.

My Project

Empowering women, empower women. I would like my students to have access to a more diverse classroom library. I want the young boys and girls in my class to read about strong women characters to inspire the strength and power they have inside as well.

Young girls need exposure to the infinite and possibilities in their lives.

They can learn and be inspired by the strong female characters in their books at a young age. I want to provide them with reading to help them decide the kind of young leaders they will become. I want young girls to see themselves in their books.
