Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our club is open to all students, in all grade levels. The club has been in existence since 2013. The whole purpose of our club is to inspire students, teachers, faculty and staff to change the culture of our school, making it a welcoming, safe, caring, and bully free environment.
The activities and projects give students the opportunity to reach out to their fellow students and inspire them to replace acts of bullying, negativity, and carelessness, with acts of kindness, care, respect, and compassion, and make a difference in the lives of others.
By having our students reach out to other students and give them a helping hand, we hope to inspire and empower them to create a positive and caring culture on our campus and community.
My Project
The focus of our projects is to help others and make students understand that by just being in the life of some of our students, that is making a difference. We have afterschool socials (board games, group activities) where students give their buddy a gift (beanie, scarf, gloves, socks, card) to keep them warm during the winter months as a gesture of kindness and friendship.
They also gift students that are identified by teachers or staff, by inviting them to one of our afterschool socials and them leaving with a kindness gift.
The projects that students plan and complete are all with the intent to make a difference in the lives of others.
