Gifted Scholars in Need of Lego Robotics for STEM Projects
Help me give my students STEM experiences and training in core values for the First Lego League with the Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robotics Kit and Expansion Pack.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live and go to school in Durham, NC. They are gifted (AIG) students in grades 3-8. Each grade level is composed of students with differing ethnicities and economic status. Regardless of their backgrounds, they are all very bright, ambitious, and inquisitive students.
Working with gifted students challenges me to challenge them with impactful educational outcomes.
Our work in AIG class is project based, includes 21st century skills, and empowers our gifted learners to take ownership of their own learning. My students are thoughtful, compassionate, and motivated to use creativity and persistence to solve problems that can improve our world.
My Project
We are starting a new program with our AIG (academically gifted) students. Lego Education and the First Lego League encompass all that could be envisioned of an AIG program. Teaching core values in conjunction with STEM, research, and presentation skills will promote the type of discovery, challenge, and innovation that is expected in an AIG classroom.
The EV3 Robotics kits are a resource and a pathway to the types of learning experiences that gifted students should be involved with to become leaders who create positive change in our world.
Endless learning possibilities will be uncovered with access to these resources.
