This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being the GATE Coordinator, Grade-Level Chairperson, and an educator at my school, I need an iPad Air to conduct Professional Development for teachers and parents of Gifted Learners.

I work at a Title I school in the San Fernando Valley.

The majority of the students are English Language Learners and most come from a single parent household, a low-socioeconomic status. Despite these challenges, we have Gifted Learners who work hard to obtain quality education.

My Project

I need the iPad Air to help me research topics such as depth and complexity, identification of different abilities (ranging from intellectual ability to creative ability), and educating parents of Gifted Learners. Being new to the role of GATE Coordinator, it is still a learning process as I familiarize myself with different sites and resources available to access data. I will use sites such as symbaloo, hoagiesgifted, and the National Association for Gifted Children. I will be attending the Summer Gifted Symposium and will use the iPad to take notes, pictures, create artifacts for teachers, parents and students.

This project will help me gain more hands on experience as I continue to further my own education.

Topics of professional development and differentiated strategies for parents and educators will be targeted. I will be able to readily access this information more quickly and efficiently during these professional sessions. A tablet used during Professional Development would help me continue to learn how to guide my instruction and enable me to reach my students on their different levels.
