My Students

"Let's inspire them to do their best, because in their lives, we may be the only ones who have the power to do so." - C. Everett Koop This quote describes what I try to do for my students each and every day. I create children who are problem solvers who are prepared for the 21st Century.

Our school is a Title I school with over 85% of scholars qualifying for free and reduced-priced lunch.

My scholars are all identified as Talented and Gifted in creative thinking, cognitive ability, language arts or math. They come from a rural community in Ohio that does not always have the resources to provide the most in-depth, real-world experiences and as a result, our test scores drop yearly! My scholars and I refuse to allow anything to hold us back from accomplishing great things. I want to instill a love for education that will open new doors for my scholars.

My Project

Providing a solid foundation for math in fifth grade will mean the difference between a math lover and math hater. Too many adults say they "can't do math" and I want to avoid that with my students by using quality math projects. By using hands-on projects and my math tricks, we can help every student succeed and learn to love math! Our district has not provided us with any resources to teach the new Common Core standards, so this program would make all the difference to my math curriculum.

Math should be fun, noisy, and exciting for students.

Students can learn by playing math games and working through the workbook. Help my students make a connection so the entire class understands the new Common Core standards in math.
