Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to support and reward my students for showing up to school every day and giving it their all. My students work hard every day and show up regardless of the difficulties they are experiencing in their lives. This pandemic has affected everybody in some form but my students were already facing inequality and financial hardships prior to this pandemic. Things have only gotten worst and they have even less access to things that we normally take for granted.

These gift cards will be used as an incentive for students that push through in their academics even when they feel like they have the world on top of their shoulders.

On many days my students ask for food from restaurants nearby because they are hungry and truly can't afford to buy food. Food is comforting to a lot of people. When you buy someone's food it demonstrates that you care about them and their well-being. Granted there are other types of food hungry children can eat such as cafeteria food or snacks. This is why the gift cards will be more of an incentive and a reward because it's more than just giving them a snack when they are hungry. It's going the extra mile to make them feel special and telling them that they have worked hard enough to be able to enjoy something that they like. With your support, I will be able to provide multiple students with cards as rewards which I am sure will make a huge difference in their lives.
