My Students
Getting Ready for the Future! We are hungry for technology.
We are in the need of exposure to computers. We are moving into an era of online testing across the curriculum; yet we are lacking on technology. We have no computers in our classrooms.
We are in a title I school where salary has been frozen for 7 years and where new technology is barely making its way through.
I have a kindergarten classroom composed of 20 students. We are in a school where we just got rid of the old cube dinosaur computers and where we just recently got our second computer lab.
My Project
You ask yourself; why does this teacher need 6 laptops in a kindergarten classroom? Well let me tell you. The learning opportunities are endless. The computes will be used across the curriculum. Not only will my students have the opportunity to have the exposure and practice on a laptop but I will be able to reach all my kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners.
Throughout centers time students will have the opportunity to receive immediate feedback. Students will be able to listen to read aloud, use educational apps, and navigate educational websites, as well as familiarize themselves with a keyboard, mouse, and laptop.
Here are a few examples…
Reading Time:
Students will listen to stories and practice their reading fluency and listening skills. They will reinforce their phonological awareness skills by using the program Starfall as well as many other learning websites.
Writing Time:
Students will practice writing simple sentences and create their own stories.
I believe that every student can be successful, we just have to find their potential and provide them with the appropriate tools.
