My students are starting the school year off eager to express who they are!! This is my tenth year teaching first grade in an urban New York school. We are a class of 28 and are at times limited in resources.
My students are from a poor urban neighborhood. They are limited in supplies and have just started the school year.
I would love for our class to have a digital camera, along with "All About Me" posters and books!! I feel this will help motivate students to take a real interest in getting to know each other. I believe this will help to develop a sense of pride and self esteem. It will also allow us to have some fun as we develop creative projects expressing who we are. I feel by being able to add their photos to the projects in our "All About Me" unit the children will develop a real sense of ownership in their work. Through these activities the children will be able to display their talents and skills to others!
