Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach 30 energetic, eager-to-learn second graders at an inner-city school. My students are predominately Hispanic and come from lower-income families.
Last year, we were not able to fully utilize our classroom computers because we lacked some basic accessories for them. Some students were not able to have access to headphones, which limited them to which educational programs and websites they were able to use during Reading, Math, Writing, and free time. We also did not have enough mouse pads, which made manipulating the mouse more difficult for the children.
Luckily, our classroom is supplied with six computers. To get the most out of them, my students need a pair of sturdy headphones and a mouse pad for each computer. With these basic accessories, I will be able to let the students use all six computers at once. This will come in handy for Reading instruction, Math, Writing, and their computer skills.
